Song of Six Pence

Walter Crane - Song of Six Pence -

The pie is served to the King and his Queen. When the pie is opened the poor blackbirds inside begin to sing. The King does not look that pleased to find a bunch of blackbirds inside his pie. You would be annoyed too if you were hoping for a blueberry pie and found a bunch of birds inside. Very unhygienic and not every tasty. Illustration from Sing a Song of Six Pence drawn by Walter Crane.
